AdBlue is used to reduce NOx emissions in vehicles with SCR technology
AdBlue converts harmful NOx from diesel exhaust into harmless nitrogen and steam and therefore significantly reduces emissions of nitrogen oxides (NOx), a major source of atomospheric pollution and leading to smog in urban areas. According to studies by the World Health Organization, NOx emissions have been shown to aggravate asthma.
Since 2005, legislation on diesel vehicles in the EU has demanded a drastic reduction in NOx emissions. Manufacturers of vehicles, primarily trailers, had to rethink the exhaust systems of their vehicles. More and more diesel cars, tractors and other vehicles that are not used on the road are now equipped with the SCR system in the exhaust.
